Viikinkien aikaan - Hallan tarina

2026

What was life like in Lower Satakunta just over a thousand years ago? What do burial finds tell us about everyday life in the past? Your guide to the past is Halla, through whom the exhibition explores Viking Age life in Lower Satakunta. What was daily life like – where did people live, what did they eat, and how did they dress? Whom did they meet, and what kinds of networks was Lower Satakunta part of? How was death understood and treated?

The museum commissioned staged videos for the exhibition, filmed in lush natural surroundings, in which Halla appears together with her baby. The exhibition aimed to evoke the atmosphere of a spring forest. However, the archaeological objects are sensitive to light, so the lighting needed to remain relatively dim. Subtle earthy tones were chosen for the space. Several gently curving fabric-covered walls were created to divide the exhibition space, and video projections glowing through them bring a sense of springtime atmosphere to the exhibition.
